Why 100s of Flint area workers are being bused into Livingston

A new public bus service has started bringing Flint factory workers and residents to Howell on a daily basis. Flint’s Mass Transportation Authority began transporting workers to Thai Summit seven days a week for the plant’s morning, afternoon and night shifts on June 20 with a similar service to Key Plastics expected to begin Monday. The Howell Area Chamber of Commerce and Ann Arbor SPARK are leading the employment and public transportation effort. Gov. Rick Snyder’s Mission Flint initiative also helped bring the bus service to the two cities.

Search for new office space brings Ford Motor to downtown Ann Arbor

The new FordLabs office space at the McKinley Towne Center in Ann Arbor is seen on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. The office, which opened on May 12, will focus on software development for Ford projects.

 

Gestamp Chooses Ann Arbor Region for New Chassis, Paint, and Laser Welding Lines

Madrid, Spain-based Corporación Gestamp, an international supplier of metal parts and assemblies for auto manufacturers, recently chose to locate its new manufacturing facility in Chelsea, Mich. Gestamp Washtenaw, LLC, a new subsidiary of Gestamp, will invest $68 million and create 195 new jobs over the next four years.

Toyota Makes $5 million investment in American Center for Mobility

The second facility in Michigan dedicated to testing automated and connected vehicles is currently under construction in Ypsilanti, Mich. and it just got its first official automaker financial sponsor. At the annual Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Mich. Today, Toyota announced plans contribute $5 million to the American Center for Mobility (ACM).
