Ann Arbor SPARK president and CEO Paul Krutko is attending the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) World Conference this week. Krutko gave a presentation at the pre-conference, using Ann Arbor as a model for other Areas of Innovation, and shining an international spotlight on our region.

Krutko was elected to the IASP board of directors as the sole U.S. representation joining other directors from Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America.

“Ann Arbor is gaining global prominence as an area of innovation, and a destination for innovative businesses,” Krutko said. “It’s really exciting to spread the word to an international audience about what’s happening here. Ann Arbor is a model for how communities can attract and retain a range of businesses, from those coming out of our universities to Fortune 100 brands.”

Also this week, Krutko was celebrated by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), which honored him for his work as the organization’s chair. Krutko is stepping down from his role as chair of the organization; his departure was announced at IEDC’s 2014 Annual Conference, which was held October 19 – 22 in Fort Worth, TX.

Of his tenure with IEDC, Krutko said, “It was a pleasure to serve on the Board of IEDC, the world’s leading economic development organization. IEDC’s work is vital to reviving the current economic environment.”
