Sassa Akervall is the Chief Operating Officer of Akervall Technologies, an Ann Arbor startup founded in 2007. Since then, the company has experienced significant growth, including the launch of a new product, the SISU Mouthguard. As it ramps up production, Akervall is moving from its current office space to a facility where it can house operations and manufacturing together.
In March of this year, Akervall Technologies was named one of the Top 50 Companies to Watch in Michigan.
In her conversation with Paul Krutko, president and CEO of Ann Arbor SPARK, Sassa discusses the importance of SPARK’s involvement in their success, the struggles and successes of starting a new company, and why roller derby made for the perfect initial target market.
