Pitch Ypsi Returns for 2018

Pitch Ypsi aims to inspire, support and celebrate Ypsilanti-area enterprises through events that help local entrepreneurs in all sectors connect to the resources they need to start, grow, and thrive.

Following the first two Pitch Ypsi competitions in 2017, that included more than 100 applicants from the Ypsilanti area, the 2018 volunteer-based organizing committee adjusted the competition, making it more accessible to more members of the Ypsilanti community.

New this year, enterprises will pitch against others at the same stage of development in one of three categories — Idea, Launch, or Grow — with $10,000 in total prizes available. Up to three applicants will be selected as finalists to pitch in each category. Each category will have a $2,500 cash prize winner. From these three category winners, one grand prize winner will be selected and awarded an additional $2,500 cash, plus $5,000 in free legal services donated by Varnum Law, and other in-kind prizes. Apply online before Wednesday, November 14, at 11:59 p.m. The committee encourages past non-winning participants to apply again. See below for eligibility.

The public is invited to the pitch competition on Wednesday, December 5 at 6 p.m. at Back Office Studio — Ypsilanti’s newest co-working space and second-stage business incubator. Reserve your (free) ticket so you’re sure to have a spot.

The cash prizes are thanks to financial contributions from Washtenaw County, Ann Arbor SPARK, Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti SmartZone, Limelight Fund, O’Neal Properties, and Praxis Properties. Thanks to the A2Y Chamber Foundation for being the fiduciary this year, and to in-kind marketing support from BrandHrt Digital Insights and Strategy.
