FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  – SEPTEMBER 24, 2019 – ANN ARBOR, MICH. — The Michigan Angel Community will host its annual Michigan Angel Summit on November 12, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will be held at Lovett Hall at The Henry Ford in Dearborn. This year’s keynote speakers are John Dearie, founder and president of the Center for American Entrepreneurship, and Victoria Pettibone, managing director, Astia Angels.

“The Michigan Angel Summit convenes experienced angels as well as those looking to become involved as angel investors,” said Skip Simms, Michigan Angel Community director and senior vice president, Ann Arbor SPARK. “While it provides a great opportunity to network with those who are active angel investors, the Michigan Angel Summit is also an opportunity to learn the benefits of choosing to become an angel as well as best practices and trends defining the industry.”

Before joining the Center for American Entrepreneurship, Dearie was formerly acting CEO of the Financial Services Forum and an officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He is the co-author of Where the Jobs Are: Entrepreneurship and the Soul of the American Economy. His writing has also appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and USA Today.

Pettibone is an active investor and advisor in the innovation economy and managing director of Astia, a global organization that levels the investment playing field for entrepreneurial teams with women leaders. Astia fulfills this mission via Astia Fund and Astia Angels, a global network made up of women, men and family offices investing in women-led companies.
