At the 2014 Livingston Regional Job Fair local job seekers will have the opportunity to connect with over 50 area companies who are looking to hire. The event will be open from 11am-3pm on Wednesday, April 16th at Crystal Gardens Banquet Center in Howell located at 5768 East Grand River Avenue in Genoa Township.

In a single day, job seekers can be prepared to meet with potential employers such as Action Associates/Work Skills Corporation, Asahi Kasei Plastics NA, Champion Automotive Inc., Chassix, Cleary University, Express Employment Professionals, Lake Trust Credit Union, Livingston County Daily Press & Argus, Livingston County EMS, Manpower, Meijer Stores, Promess Incorporated, Thai Summit, The Kroger Company of Michigan, Trillium Staffing, and the US Army.  Recruiters are seeking qualified applicants in a wide variety of fields ranging from sales, finance, CNC operators, food service, light industrial, to health care, adjunct college instructors, auto techs, building trades, information technology, marketing and engineering.

“With the improving economy, more employers are hiring for a variety of positions from entry level to management,” said William Sleight, Director of Livingston County Michigan Works!  “Job seekers who are prepared for the unique environment of a job fair will have the best chance to make a favorable impression at the event,” Sleight said.

Job seekers should be prepared to provide a current resume or work history and to complete an application. Some companies will be conducting brief interviews at the event.

In addition to meeting directly with employers, job seekers will have the opportunity to attend workshops that will help them make a successful first impression, improve their resume, and learn LinkedIn basics.  As a special service, human resources professionals will be available throughout the day to provide a quick critique of job seekers’ resume.  A bank of computers will be available so

that job seekers can search and apply for jobs online and the Howell Sports and Therapy Massage Clinic will provide free massages for job seekers and exhibitors.

Livingston County Michigan Works! is also offering special services to job seekers who register for the Job Fair before the event. Registrants will receive email notifications of important updates and notices about recruiters who will be attending the event, and about workshops and services that can help you prepare for the Job Fair.  Job Seekers should register at www.2014lrjf.eventbrite.com, and those who attend the event will qualify for a door prize raffle.  The Michigan Works! website: www.lcmw.org contains a current listing of exhibitors and positions, and a map to the Job Fair.

The Livingston Regional Job Fair is presented by the Job Fair Planning Committee. This collaborative committee consists of representatives from more than 15 local organizations including state and local workforce agencies, local chambers of commerce, post-secondary education, and local nonprofit agencies.
