Seven companies from the Ann Arbor region were chosen recently for the 11th annual “Michigan 50 Companies to Watch” plus one company, Civionics was chosen for the honorable Innovation Award.  The companies were chosen for demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership, industry innovation, and a proven track record of growth. These 50 companies have collectively achieved more than $308M in total revenue and employed 1,748 people in 2014.  In 2015, they are planning on creating 798 new jobs.

Ann Arbor SPARK is proud to have partnered with InfoReady, NewFoundry and New Eagle, to match them with investors, grant funding or loans.  Companies like Civionics, a University of Michigan spin-off, and New Eagle, an automotive, energy efficiency company, have gone through Ann Arbor SPARK’s Boot Camp to help them develop a solid business plan and prepare for investor presentations.  Rubicon Genomics, a leader in pre-analytic amplification technologies, requires a highly technical staff, and has grown from 5 to 25 employees with the help of SPARK’s job portal.  Oxford Companies, is a full-service, real estate company that has received the Ann Arbor SPARK  FastTrack award 3 years in a row.
It’s exciting to see such promising, Ann Arbor companies honored for their success and leadership at the statewide-Michigan Celebrates Small Business event on May 7th in Lansing.
Michigan Celebrates Small Business (MCSB) remains on the forefront of championing small business and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit in Michigan. The MCSB’s role is to serve as a catalyst for creating an entrepreneurial culture while inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.
