With the assistance of Ann Arbor SPARK, Orchid Orthopedic Solutions, LLC recently secured incentives that will help the company add nine new jobs and invest more than $2 million at its facility in Lima Township, Mich., Orchid MacDee, LLC (Orchid Chelsea). Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is a worldwide leader in contract manufacturing of medical devices.
The incentives, awarded by Lima Township to Orchid Chelsea in the form of an Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption, totaled more than $10,000 for equipment to be installed in 2014. The company, which specializes in medical devices, such as knee and hip implants as well as tools and specialty instruments, is investing in new equipment and updating existing equipment.
“Orchid Chelsea has been able to tap talent and resources to grow its location in the Ann Arbor region,” said Patrick Davison, general manager of Orchid Chelsea. “Knowing that Ann Arbor SPARK is able to provide support for our efforts to expand in this region, and that we also have support from Lima Township, reinforces our commitment to growing here.”
The new equipment that Orchid Chelsea is investing in will support the company’s growth, including hiring nine new employees by the end of 2014. The company is looking to hire a range of employees from general laborers to technical staff.
