Ann Arbor SPARK is pleased to announce that work is officially underway on Strategic Site Readiness Program (SSRP) grants aimed at delivering critical infrastructure to key areas in Livingston County. Supported by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), these projects are part of a broader effort to enhance investment-ready sites across Michigan.

In January, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the MEDC announced the approval of $87.5 million in SSRP funding for 18 projects statewide. Of this, $7.1 million was allocated to three projects in Livingston and Washtenaw counties, helping create sites that are primed for future investment and business development.

The SSRP program aims to make the state more competitive for securing transformative projects that bring new industries and jobs. This latest round of funding highlights the high demand for ready sites, with over 70 applications submitted, totaling $420 million in requested funding—more than four times the available SSRP budget.

“These grants enable us to prepare strategic sites that invite growth, innovation, and economic prosperity for the community,” said Marcia Gebarowski, Ann Arbor SPARK’s director of business development in Livingston County. “We appreciate the state’s support, which positions our region to attract new research, development, and manufacturing opportunities. By collaborating with our local partners, we are excited to move forward with these impactful projects.”

As these projects progress, Ann Arbor SPARK will continue working closely with local partners, regional stakeholders, and the MEDC to ensure that Livingston County is well-positioned for new investment and economic opportunities.

About the SSRP

Established in December 2021, the Strategic Site Readiness Program (SSRP) provides financial incentives to eligible applicants to conduct eligible activities on, or related to, strategic sites and mega-strategic sites in Michigan, for the purpose of creating a statewide inventory of investment-ready sites to attract and promote investment in Michigan. Administered by MEDC on behalf of the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF), the SSRP provides access to grants, loans, and other economic assistance.
