Regional Strategic Site Readiness Program

Funding site development for investment across Southeast Michigan

The Regional Strategic Site Readiness Program provides targeted funding to prepare sites for future private investment and job creation. Eligible projects may include:

Site Assessments – Identify infrastructure needs, environmental conditions, and overall site readiness.
Predevelopment Work – Support for planning, engineering, and community engagement efforts.
Construction Preparation – Activities that prepare the site for vertical or infrastructure development.
Capital Investment Planning – Develop phased plans and cost models to guide future investment.

The Process

Site Review – A comprehensive review of known and potential development sites across the region.
Regional Engagement – Coordination with local and regional partners across six counties: Washtenaw, Livingston, Jackson, Monroe, Lenawee, and Hillsdale.
Proposal Solicitation – Stakeholders submit project proposals detailing the scope of work, estimated costs, and project rationale.
Evaluation – Proposals are evaluated based on job creation potential, impact of the proposed work, and level of local and regional support.
Funding and Compliance – Selected projects are awarded funding through agreements that include requirements for reimbursement, progress reporting, and listing on the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) site database.
