Howell-based Chem-Trend, a global leader in the development and production of high-performance release agents, purging compounds, and other molding products, was awarded a $250,000 Michigan Business Development chem trend picProgram performance-based grant by MEDC. The company is planning on investing $7.7 million to expand its R&D facility at its Howell headquarters. Chem-Trend is creating 25 professional, scientific, and technical service jobs with this acquired grant.

“Chem-Trend differentiates itself through developing innovative technology backed by uncompromised customer service, and this expansion reconfirms our commitment to continue delivering advanced product technologies that address the evolving needs of our customers,” said Devanir Moraes, the company’s president and CEO. “As we look to the future, we are focused on increasing Chem-Trend’s already industry leading level of R&D and technical support capabilities.”

Ann Arbor SPARK and the Economic Development Council of Livingston Countyhave supported Chem-Trend since 2012, assisted in the company’s application for incentives from the MEDC this past January, and will continue to provide talent and related services as Chem-Trend grows in the region.
