Third Place [MusicFest], an annual Ann Arbor music festival, is proud to partner with a2Tech360 and present performance art rock electro-acoustic quartet, slapslap. More about slapslap: a combination you don’t see every day: two electric bassoonists and dual percussionists, unless you’re witnessing Ann Arbor quartet slapslap, of course. Bassoonists Maddy Wildman and Ezra Gans and percussionists Cameron Wilson and Tanner Tanyeri combine their musical powers to produce a one-of-a-kind sound that exists in the space between creative improv, up-tempo dance music, post-funk, and performance art. Embracing technical musicianship as much as they do light-hearted absurdity, slapslap is equal parts enthralling, confounding, and fun. The band has performed in places as diverse as coffee shops, basement shows, bars, and University of Michigan’s Hill Auditorium, delighting crowds with their upbeat compositions and eccentric style.
