New research from the D.C.-based think-tank Economic Innovation Group suggests that while West Coast states retain a fairly high percentage of international students in the years following graduation, the rest of the country lags far behind. This webinar will delve into this research and showcase how local international student retention initiatives run by chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, nonprofit organizations and state and local government are launching new programs to help connect local employers with high-skilled STEM talent needs with this talent pipeline.
International students comprise 70% of all the graduate students in the U.S. in critical fields such as computer science and electrical engineering and if employers across the nation matched the West Coast employers’ hiring rates of this talent pool, literally hundreds of thousands more STEM workers could be filling critical talent gaps in the economy.
