Edwin Olson is founder and CEO of May Mobility, a company that builds and deploys fleets of driverless shuttles in structured environments. Olson is also an associate professor at the University of the Michigan and director of the APRIL Robotics Laboratory. He is the winner of the 2010 MAGIC robotics competition, the 2013 DARPA Young Faculty Award, and was named one of Popular Science’s “Brilliant Ten” in 2012.

In his podcast with Ann Arbor SPARK president and CEO Paul Krutko, Olson discusses how May Mobility is currently focused on setting up its six-passenger autonomous vehicles on transportation routes across areas 10 sq miles or less. He also discusses how May Mobility’s vehicles can replace existing shuttle services, parking shuttles, buses, and similar vehicles on fixed routes. Olson talks about the company’s open positions, including software engineers, field application engineers, sales, and “Customer Success Experts”. Finally, he touches on why the Ann Arbor region is the perfect place for May Mobility to grow.
