Sunday, September 24, 2017
WHAT: Washtenaw Community College’s fall Open House combines two popular on-campus events – Free College Day and Cars & Bikes on Campus – and includes additional free events that give the community an opportunity to experience the college.
Free College Day is a popular biannual event that offers a variety of free classes led by WCC faculty and staff during three sessions (starting at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 2:15pm). There are 28 classes offered, ranging from “Audio Recording & Engineering: How Hit Records are Made and Concerts Produced” to “STEM Labs Backstage Pass: Life Sciences Lab Core” to “Japanese Meditation for Health and Healing.” Other courses focus on radiography, biology, business, home construction, exercise, computer networking, infant/child care, and more. A full schedule of classes and registration information can be found at wccnet.edu/openhouse.
Cars & Bikes on Campus features cool cars, amazing motorcycles and revved up competitions. Throw in music, food and age-appropriate activities for children and the 14th annual event offers something for everyone from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The WCC Advanced Transportation division also opens the doors to its labs and classrooms, where you can check out a motorcycle dyno shootout, welding competitions, 3D printing, laser and plasma cutting demonstrations, and more. For more information, visit wccnet.edu/openhouse.
Additional Open House activities include: Party in the Park with cider and donuts, carnival treats, photo booth, face painting and other fun activities for kids of all ages; campus tours guided by WCC student ambassadors; Open House stops and activities at a number of WCC’s state-of-the-art labs; and lunch will be available for $4.
