Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar – Small Business, Big Threat
Presented by: Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC)

The Small Business, Big Threat program (SBBT) was developed by the Michigan SBDC and key partners with leading experts in the field. It aims to raise small business awareness of cybersecurity issues that could negatively impact their business. The program targets non-technical small business owners and employees. Small businesses are at risk for cyber-attacks. In fact, small businesses are more vulnerable in many ways. This presentation will cover why cybersecurity is important, multiple cybersecurity concepts, including how to cyber secure your business, and examine different every day cybersecurity scenarios. This presentation will address the most common areas for concern and action for small business owners.

Scott is a cybersecurity professional passionate about raising awareness of everyday cyber threats and trends among the Michigan small business community.

Prior to joining the Michigan SBDC, Scott served as an IT Security Analyst at Ferris State University. As an IT Security Analyst, he managed full disk encryption, mobile device management, Office365 security policies, and provided security awareness training through multiple platforms to the different colleges and departments throughout the university. He has also assisted with incident response, vulnerability and risk assessments, data loss prevention, and data security access. With a diverse background, he has gained unique capabilities to support small businesses faced with cyber threats.
